Time to bid adieu to the year 2010

Time and tide wait for none. As I ponder on this thought, I realize this saying holds true as today is the last day of the year and time flew by so quickly…
For me this year has been more of downs than ups but with my parents, brothers and few of my good friends by my side, it was easy to come out of it.
The greatest achievement in life is when one comes out of a difficult situation and takes on the life with a positive attitude. I did the same and in latter part of the year, my sorrows vanished like bubbles.

For the forthcoming year my resolution is very simple and I will ensure I will stick to it. I have decided to celebrate life everyday and be happy with people who matters the most.

So here I am bidding adieu to 2010 and gearing up to celebrate the new year!!!

Jeevan Naheen Maraa Karta Hai..

Am little down today and whenever I am in this state of mind where I struggle to find solutions to certain problems, there is a poem which flashes into my mind ..."Jeevan naheen maraa karta hai..This wonderful piece of art means a lot to me. This poem was a part of our school curriculum (reminds me of my KV days)..
A must read is what I would suggest. Here it is -

Jeevan Nahi Mara Karta hai
Poet: Gopal Das "Neeraj"
Chip Chip ashru bahaane waalon
Moti vyarth lutane waalon !
Kuch sapnon ke mar jane se jeevan nahin mara karta hai

Sapnaa kya hai ? Nayan sez par,
Soya hua aankh ka paani
Aur tootna hai uska jyon
Jage kachchi neend jawani
Geelee umar banaane walon! Doobe bina nahaane waalon
Kuch pani ke bah jane se saawan nahin mara karta hai

Mala bikhar gayi to kya hai
Khud hi hal ho gayi samasyaa
Aansoo gar neelaam huye to
Samjho poori huyi tapasyaa
Roothe divas manaane walon! Phati kameez silaane waalon!
Kuch deepon ke bujh jaane se aangan nahin mara karta hai

Khota kuch bhi nahin yahan par
Kewal zild badaltee pothee (pothee –book)
Jaise raat utaar chandani
Pehne subah dhoop ki dhoti
Vastra badal kar aane waalon ! Chaal badalkar jaane waalon!
Chand Khilounon ke khone se bachpan nahin maraa karta hai

Laakhon baar gagriyaan phooteen
Shikan na aayi panghat par
Lakhon baar kishtiyaan doobeen
Chahal-pehal wo hi hai tat par
Tam ki umra badhaane waalon! Lau ki aayu ghatane waalon ! (tam-darkness)
Laakh kare patjhad koshish par upvan nahin maraa kartaa hai

Loot liya maali ne upvan
Luti na lekin gandh phool ki
Toofaanon tak ne cheda par
Khidki band na huyi dhool kee
Nafrat gale lagaane waalon! Sab par dhool udaane waalon
Kuch mukhdon ki naaraazee se darpan nahin maraa karta hai

Chip Chip ashru bahaane waalon
Moti vyarth lutane waalon !
Kuch sapnon ke mar jane se jeevan nahin mara karta hai

Irresistible Panipuri!

Haven’t counted how many I have gulped down in last one month. All I know, that it is difficult to defy myself from this round, fried crisp sphere. This irrestible sphere is nothing but a popular Indian snack which is popularly known as panipuri in north India, puchka in east and golgappa in southern part of India. This chaat item needs no introduction and the mention of pani puri is enough to make one's mouth water in anticipation.

Panipuri has always been one of my favourite snacks. I can eat as many as 30 panipuris at one time (yummy!!!!!). In my colony Kundanbagh (Begumpet), next to Kundan bagh apartments, there is a hawker, who makes the best panipuris I have ever had. This place was introduced to me by one of my friends. It’s not a shop but a cart kind, where this guy comes everyday in the evening and is there till 10pm.Initially when I  went to this place I could manage to eat only a plate of panipuris (1 plate has 8 panipuris) but I liked it so much that now I am a regular customer. And every time I visit I end up eating 4 plates of panipuris (which is like 32 puris!!!).This place is also value for money as 1 plate with 8 panipuris here costs just Rs 10.He also makes scrumptious aloo chaat too.

Every evening I look forward to relish this lip-smacking, irresistible snack…

Merry Christmas

Few days’ back I was upset of not celebrating Christmas with my parents. But on 25th, I was thrilled to offer my praise and thanksgiving to the Lord of Lord, King of Kings.i.e Lord Jesus. I wore my new clothes (got compliment that I was looking million bucks...Hehehehe) and headed to attend the prayer service. After prayers I met my friend Gloria and went to her house to celebrate the day.

I was delighted to meet Mihika (Gloria’s daughter). She is four years old but she talks like an old granny and is bundle of joy to be with….Gloria cooked a scrumptious lunch for me and I had an awesome time playing with Mihika and chatting with my friend…

It was so much fun that time just flew. I came home in the evening and was pleased that my Christmas was Merry!!!.....................

This Christmas – Missing Home

As everyone gears up to celebrate Christmas, I am missing home. Every year I make it a point to visit my parents and celebrate this festival with them. But this time I couldn’t make it (Sad!!).

Christmas brings fond memories as at home in Assam, preparations for Christmas begins a month in advance. We get our home whitewashed and get indulge in spring cleaning of the house to give it a fresh new look. The best part is to decorate the house with balloons, colored lights and shiny decorations and not to forget the Christmas tree. It’s a delight to decorate the Christmas tree. When I was a kid, I hanged beautiful stockings on the Christmas tree in a hope to get gifts from Santa Claus.(Hehehehe)
The highlight of Christmas at my house is the cake (mouthwatering) prepared by my mom, which is not only anxiously awaited by us but by our neighbors too. (Smile).
I love everything about Christmas Day - the nativity scene, caroling, scripture reading, giving gifts (also receiving) and of course eating cakes.

Let me stop here as I am getting emotional coz I really miss celebrating Christmas with my parents and brothers.

Anyways in few hours from now I will join my friend Gloria and her family to celebrate my favourite festival i.e Christmas…..
