Time to bid adieu to the year 2010

Time and tide wait for none. As I ponder on this thought, I realize this saying holds true as today is the last day of the year and time flew by so quickly…
For me this year has been more of downs than ups but with my parents, brothers and few of my good friends by my side, it was easy to come out of it.
The greatest achievement in life is when one comes out of a difficult situation and takes on the life with a positive attitude. I did the same and in latter part of the year, my sorrows vanished like bubbles.

For the forthcoming year my resolution is very simple and I will ensure I will stick to it. I have decided to celebrate life everyday and be happy with people who matters the most.

So here I am bidding adieu to 2010 and gearing up to celebrate the new year!!!

Jeevan Naheen Maraa Karta Hai..

Am little down today and whenever I am in this state of mind where I struggle to find solutions to certain problems, there is a poem which flashes into my mind ..."Jeevan naheen maraa karta hai..This wonderful piece of art means a lot to me. This poem was a part of our school curriculum (reminds me of my KV days)..
A must read is what I would suggest. Here it is -

Jeevan Nahi Mara Karta hai
Poet: Gopal Das "Neeraj"
Chip Chip ashru bahaane waalon
Moti vyarth lutane waalon !
Kuch sapnon ke mar jane se jeevan nahin mara karta hai

Sapnaa kya hai ? Nayan sez par,
Soya hua aankh ka paani
Aur tootna hai uska jyon
Jage kachchi neend jawani
Geelee umar banaane walon! Doobe bina nahaane waalon
Kuch pani ke bah jane se saawan nahin mara karta hai

Mala bikhar gayi to kya hai
Khud hi hal ho gayi samasyaa
Aansoo gar neelaam huye to
Samjho poori huyi tapasyaa
Roothe divas manaane walon! Phati kameez silaane waalon!
Kuch deepon ke bujh jaane se aangan nahin mara karta hai

Khota kuch bhi nahin yahan par
Kewal zild badaltee pothee (pothee –book)
Jaise raat utaar chandani
Pehne subah dhoop ki dhoti
Vastra badal kar aane waalon ! Chaal badalkar jaane waalon!
Chand Khilounon ke khone se bachpan nahin maraa karta hai

Laakhon baar gagriyaan phooteen
Shikan na aayi panghat par
Lakhon baar kishtiyaan doobeen
Chahal-pehal wo hi hai tat par
Tam ki umra badhaane waalon! Lau ki aayu ghatane waalon ! (tam-darkness)
Laakh kare patjhad koshish par upvan nahin maraa kartaa hai

Loot liya maali ne upvan
Luti na lekin gandh phool ki
Toofaanon tak ne cheda par
Khidki band na huyi dhool kee
Nafrat gale lagaane waalon! Sab par dhool udaane waalon
Kuch mukhdon ki naaraazee se darpan nahin maraa karta hai

Chip Chip ashru bahaane waalon
Moti vyarth lutane waalon !
Kuch sapnon ke mar jane se jeevan nahin mara karta hai

Irresistible Panipuri!

Haven’t counted how many I have gulped down in last one month. All I know, that it is difficult to defy myself from this round, fried crisp sphere. This irrestible sphere is nothing but a popular Indian snack which is popularly known as panipuri in north India, puchka in east and golgappa in southern part of India. This chaat item needs no introduction and the mention of pani puri is enough to make one's mouth water in anticipation.

Panipuri has always been one of my favourite snacks. I can eat as many as 30 panipuris at one time (yummy!!!!!). In my colony Kundanbagh (Begumpet), next to Kundan bagh apartments, there is a hawker, who makes the best panipuris I have ever had. This place was introduced to me by one of my friends. It’s not a shop but a cart kind, where this guy comes everyday in the evening and is there till 10pm.Initially when I  went to this place I could manage to eat only a plate of panipuris (1 plate has 8 panipuris) but I liked it so much that now I am a regular customer. And every time I visit I end up eating 4 plates of panipuris (which is like 32 puris!!!).This place is also value for money as 1 plate with 8 panipuris here costs just Rs 10.He also makes scrumptious aloo chaat too.

Every evening I look forward to relish this lip-smacking, irresistible snack…

Merry Christmas

Few days’ back I was upset of not celebrating Christmas with my parents. But on 25th, I was thrilled to offer my praise and thanksgiving to the Lord of Lord, King of Kings.i.e Lord Jesus. I wore my new clothes (got compliment that I was looking million bucks...Hehehehe) and headed to attend the prayer service. After prayers I met my friend Gloria and went to her house to celebrate the day.

I was delighted to meet Mihika (Gloria’s daughter). She is four years old but she talks like an old granny and is bundle of joy to be with….Gloria cooked a scrumptious lunch for me and I had an awesome time playing with Mihika and chatting with my friend…

It was so much fun that time just flew. I came home in the evening and was pleased that my Christmas was Merry!!!.....................

This Christmas – Missing Home

As everyone gears up to celebrate Christmas, I am missing home. Every year I make it a point to visit my parents and celebrate this festival with them. But this time I couldn’t make it (Sad!!).

Christmas brings fond memories as at home in Assam, preparations for Christmas begins a month in advance. We get our home whitewashed and get indulge in spring cleaning of the house to give it a fresh new look. The best part is to decorate the house with balloons, colored lights and shiny decorations and not to forget the Christmas tree. It’s a delight to decorate the Christmas tree. When I was a kid, I hanged beautiful stockings on the Christmas tree in a hope to get gifts from Santa Claus.(Hehehehe)
The highlight of Christmas at my house is the cake (mouthwatering) prepared by my mom, which is not only anxiously awaited by us but by our neighbors too. (Smile).
I love everything about Christmas Day - the nativity scene, caroling, scripture reading, giving gifts (also receiving) and of course eating cakes.

Let me stop here as I am getting emotional coz I really miss celebrating Christmas with my parents and brothers.

Anyways in few hours from now I will join my friend Gloria and her family to celebrate my favourite festival i.e Christmas…..

In love with Salman Khan

Come Friday and Saturday 9pm and I am glued to TV as It’s a delight to watch Salman Khan hosting Big Boss. Why Salman Khan? Because I am a huge fan of him (Smile)
I must admit that after watching the song “ooh ooh jane jana”from “Pyar kiya toh darna kya”, I almost fell in love with Salman. He looked so hot!!!
Back home in Assam, I have huge collection of his posters which I collected while studying. Irrespective of hits or flops, I never miss watching his movies.

At times I feel terrible when Salman Khan is in the news for wrong reasons, but everyone knows that the actor has a heart of gold.

I am bowled over by his smile, dance moves, charm (thinking of Salman) and of course his dabang style ,as he has an aura which only few people have…

In a nutshell am completely in love with Salman Khan…..

Waiting for winters

At the onset of a new day, today is the first day and the last month of the year. People from other parts of India have started enjoying the winter season. But till now I haven’t see any sign of it in Hyderabad.

I miss the wintry season which I spent in Assam. This time of the year the nights were chilly and you wake up early in the morning to find the earth enclosed with fog. With dew drops on flowers and leaves, the cuckoo’s song added the beauty to the frosty mornings. Basking in the breezy rays of the winter sunshine, I loved sipping special tea (piping hot) frequently with ginger and elachi added in it. At night, covered with wollens and blankets,I enjoyed sitting round in a fireplace with my parents and brothers.

Recollecting the reminiscences of wintry days spent in Assam, now here in Hyderabad I am fervently waiting to welcome the winter season.

Back to Dancing!!

How often does it happen that one hears a peppy song and can’t resist dancing? Well with me it happens most of the time. And since last one week, I have been addicted listening to “Sheila Ki Jawani”a song from the forthcoming movie Tees Mar Khan. Katrina Kaif sizzles in this dance number and each time I hear this song, I cannot resist myself dancing. Though I am not a good dancer but I manage to catch and match the beats of this song (SMILE).

Dancing is one of my hobbies. I was in class XI, when we had to give farewell to our seniors and everyone had to participate. My participation in singing and Drama was ruled out because I was horrible in those fields. My friend Shreya who was a very good dancer suggested me to perform a duet with her. I was clueless when she approached because I never thought I could dance. Finally I ended up dancing on the famous song sung by Alisha Chenoy i.e. “Made In India”.
Our performance was appreciated by everyone and  guess what!! I was the “Star Performer” because the impression that my friends had for me was that I am a Tom Boy and that I have two left feet.(HAHAHA!!).My friends were astonished to see my dance.
After that there was no looking back, I knew that I had the talent in me and I needed to bring it out. And when I joined college to pursue B.Sc (Zoology), I performed on stage in different occasions.
Whenever I get time I pick up a song and try out my choreography. I can’t express how I feel when I dance because it helps to forget the stress around me.
Dance is not only an art form but I perceive it as meditation...(Bahut jyada hi gyan diya maine lagta hai..hahahah)

Being a Poet!!

Today I was cleaning the cupboard and I came across my Old Diary. As I turn the pages, it reminded me of days when I used to compose poems. Ahah! Those were the days when I was obsessed to writing. I found this to be a wonderful medium to express my thoughts and feelings.
I was in Class VI, when I composed my first poem and the name was “Peace”. I remember that year I recitated my poem in poem recitation competition held in my school and won the 1st prize. That motivated me and I was inclined to writing.
It feels great to share this that few of my poems have found place in one of the leading newspaper in Assam i.e.  Assam Tribune (Smile).

After coming to Hyderabad, writing almost took a back seat. But today after a long hiatus I tried composing few lines. And thanks to my Diary for motivating me.

My first experience of travelling in local bus in Hyderabad

Never thought that traveling by bus would be so much fun. And few may ask me what‘s big deal in that? Yes! But in Hyderabad I never traveled by bus all these years but after my last week’s MMTS experience; this week I got the experience of traveling in a bus too.

Few days back I had to go to Splendid Towers (Near Shopper Stop).I was waiting outside Lifestyle Building for an auto. Few auto drivers refused to go and the ones who were ready were charging Rs 40.I saw one girl trying to cross the road, I thought lemme also cross the road in a hope of getting an auto on the other side.
Now crossing the road has always been a nightmare and this reminds me of my friend Richa who says”Vijayeta tereko jo road cross karayega woh kudh hi road cross karma bhool jayega”(HAHA).Yup!this is true I have a phobia in crossing the road. So when I saw the crossing I told her to stop and said even I want to go to the other side, please help me. She smiled at me and held my hand. And in no time I was on the other side of the road.I told the girl that I had to go to Splendid Towers, she said “Didi why don’t you travel by bus, this is the bus stop and there are lots of buses going towards that side
I was in two minds but thought Yup! Why not? So many people travel by bus and I am not a princess (Smile). There came a bus and I got a place to sit. The conducter asked me to pay the fare, I asked him, How much? He said Rs 4, I was surprised I said, Is it? Coz I never thought that traveling in a bus means less fare. I was calculating the fare of Rs40 (Auto) versus Rs4.

When I came home,I realized that even traveling by bus or MMTS is convenient. All these years in Hyderabad my means of transport was Auto Rickshaw.
Today When I look Back and think of those days when I travelled by autos,It makes me feel that I have made so many Auto drivers rich (HAHAHAHAH)!!!

Birthday Card

A while ago, today was like a normal day for me. I came home tired and exhausted from work. Sipping a cuppa of tea, I sat on the terrace to unwind. Abhishek came and handed me an envelop. I was curious to know what’s inside and to my surprise it was a B’day Card sent to me by my friend Meeta Sen from USA.
As I opened and read the lines from the card, tears rolled down from my cheeks (Smile)….I was delighted to see the card and was thinking that my Best Friend still remembers my Birthday. It’s been 10 years now that we haven’t met. But every year she never fails to wish me…
Tomorrow is my Birthday and now when I look at this card; It feels great to know that I am special.

Thanks Meeta!!!As this B’day card made my evening!!!

Vodafone delights Advertisement reminds me of my Best Friend Meeta….

There are so many advertising campaigns which are shown on TV, but there are few which are meaningful and touches one’s heart. One of them is “Vodafone delights Ad”.This is about two friends and the emotional retort associated with receiving special gifts.
Shot in fantastic manner, this one is close to my heart .Whenever I see this advertisement it reminds me of my best friend Meeta Halder(Sen) whom I know since my childhood days.
And the lyrics of the song “Little things you do for me and no one else make me feel good………..is indeed so nice dat whenever I hear this song I remember the wonderful memories I spent with Meeta.

Meeta I really miss u…and cherish our childhood memories.

Here’s the lyric -----

Little things you do for me
and no one else make me feel good
little things you do for me
making me smile and no one else could
thats why i like to sit next to you
and hear your mad stories i know they are not true
and i like that we share a secret or two together
little things you do for me...

MMTS-My first Experience of travelling in a local train!!!!!

Yes I did it! And guess what? I traveled in a local train in Hyderabad which is popularly known as MMTS (Multi-Modal Transport System). But the point is what’s the big deal in it. Well all these years (6 years in Hyderabad) my means of transport was restricted to company cab in the weekday and auto rickshaw in the weekend.
I had heard from many people the benefits (Saving money and time) of traveling by MMTS.But I was little hesitant as I had weird thoughts about local trains (dirty, unsafe Blah! Blah!)
It was last weekend I had to go to Hitech City.I went to Lifestyle and waited for Auto Rikshaw for 30 minutes and the reason was they wanted me to pay Rs 150 –Rs 200 which I was not ready to. While I was waiting(impatiently) for auto rikshwas I got a call from my friend Richa who suggested me to take MMTS.Little apprehensive about the idea I thought lemme give it a try and I proceeded to the counter to get a ticket. And when I came to know about the fare I was surprised, coz it is just Rs 2 from Begumpet to Hi-tech city.I waited for 10 mins and was lil scared too thinking how the journey would be.
Finally the train came and I entered the ladies compartment. To my surprise the train was clean.I got a seat too.I asked the lady seating next to me “How long it’s gonna take me to reach Hitech”?And there comes the reply,10mins..I was wondering Is it?(How can it be)

And Yes she was right, in 10 mins,I reached Hitech Station. When I got down I smiled and had this amazing feeling as if I have achieved something.Indeed a different experience altogether, moreover one can really save on money and time.

Never thought that travelling by MMTS would be so much fun!!!!!

My Wonderland!

The topic “My Wonderland” sounds similar to “Alice in Wonderland” and well it’s no different. When I see Pooh Bear in Winne the Pooh series, I always wonder, how world be if the animals, birds, trees, sun, moon etc etc around me can talk. It would me great to see them dancing, singing, hosting B’day parties, wearing clothes. WOW!!
I may sound childish. Am I? Even today when I read books like Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty,Aladin etc (I know I am old to read such stories),I feel as if I have entered  their world.

As I saw Pooh bear on TV today celebrating his B’Day, I yearn to be a part of such wonderland.!!!!

Lazy Sunday!!

This is the laziest Sunday of my life. Got up at 9am, had my B’fast and slept again. When I opened my eyes it was 4pm.I was shocked that I slept for a long time, took the remote and started surfing channels. There was nothing to watch on TV all I saw was the visit of President Obama covered by all the news channel...
I thought of going out but changed my mind as it’s too cold outside. Sipping a cup of tea and talking to my parents over the phone is what I did in the evening. I have never felt so lazy.

I felt as if I have become a Khumbhakaran today!!!New KHUMBHAKARAN in making....

One Life to Love

There’s a superb show in NDTV Good Times that I follow which is “ONE LIFE TO LOVE”.And undoubtly it’s a show to watch out for. Hosted by noted writer and editor Simran Bhargava, the underlying philosophy behind the show is: ‘If you’re alive, you may as well be happy.’

What I like about this programme is it deals with issues which we face in our daily lives in such an uncomplicated manner. My favourite guest is Deepak Chopra.Aha! What an amazing person he is.
The simple things of life which most of the times I had forgotten, simple happiness which I had forgot to grasp. Leading a simple and hassel-free life is what I discovered all over again after watching this show.

And indeed we have only one life to love..what say!!!!

My Love for Cooking !

I am a foodie and like to try different cusines. Back home in Assam, my mother tried her best to make me learn the art of cooking. But I was a tomboy. For me entering in a kitchen meant only to grab something and feed my hungry stomach.
It’s when I came to Hyderabad that I realized the importance of home-cooked food. May be when you are away from home it teaches you lot of things and one important thing is “ghar ka khana” which one can make only at home..

Six years ago, I started with ready to mixes available in the market and later on switched to making simple recepies at home.Initialy when I started cooking it was like saving money in the week days as in the weekends I used to eat out. Gradually after attending few food festivals, I learnt that cooking is indeed an art and there is so much that one can learn.

Over the period of time my passion for cooking has become such that I never miss watching cooking shows of TLC, NDTV good times, Khana Khazana etc etc. It’s a delight watching these shows as they use simple ingredients and make a mouthwatering dish.

I still have a long way to go as there are different methods of cooking which I have to master. And who knows I can make it to the Master chef India next year….

My Morning Walk!!

After a long hiatus from my workouts, I am back to start my fitness regime. This time I have started with morning walk.
And indeed nothing like getting up early in the morning. It’s like being with nature as she is at her best in the crack of dawn and more than walking what I like is the tranquility around me.

It’s so refreshing with greenery around and still fresh shadows. With the untouched cool breeze, and the dew like soft grass, It feels as if the birds are singing merrily.
Must say that there’s a real magic in the early morning hours….

Rainy Season

Every Year, I eagerly wait for the rains ,as this is the season, where the environment is lush green. When the rain drops touches the ground, it naturally feels like, life is back.. I love the evenings of rainy season when there are different beautiful designs of clouds appear in the sky in different colours. And the little wet and sweet breeze (and something yummie to eat). ........
The rainy season brings back the memories and the fun days which I spent with my brothers and friends in Assam. We used to enjoy getting drenched in the pitter patter raindrops, jump in a puddle, and tried to brave the rains with our umbrellas and dance with joy. While coming back from school with our raincoats on, we used to splash in the pools of water. It was a joy to make tiny paper boats and see them sailing on the clogged water….

And now when I look out from my window sipping hot tea with pakoras. It is a delight to see the rain drops faling from leaves, the sweet fragrance of the earth and not to forget the cold but unsullied breeze coming by………
